Restylane in New York City
Restylane® New York City
At Laser & Mohs Dermatology of New York, we offer several Restylane products to improve the signs of wrinkles. These dermal fillers are a great option for those looking for skin rejuvenation. They were developed in Sweden, and since 1996, it has helped millions of patients in 70 countries achieve younger looking skin.
The science behind Restylane® is hyaluronic acid, which is present in youthful skin, but recedes and changes in structure as we age. The injections boost your natural supply of hyaluronic acid, which will smooth out signs of aging and enhance your natural beauty.
What Is Restylane®?
Restylane® is a clear injectable gel formulation of hyaluronic acid. It is the world’s most studied wrinkle filler, with more than a decade of use. Restylane and Restylane Lyft are indicated for mid-to-deep dermal implantation and have been used in more than 10 million treatments in over 65 countries worldwide. Restylane is biocompatible with the human body and is broken down naturally.
What areas of the body does Restylane® help treat?
Due to the multiple formulations of Restylane that have been developed, this brand of fillers can be used on virtually any area of the face, including those in which the skin is particularly delicate. The original Restylane dermal filler was primarily used to correct nasolabial folds around the nose and mouth. It could also add contours to the cheeks. Today, the various products available in the Restylane family are used to address a wide range of concerns, including:
- Forehead lines
- Frown lines
- Crow’s feet
- Under eye hollows or tear-troughs
- Cheek hollows
- Cheek and nose augmentation
- Laugh lines and nasolabial folds
- Smile lines and smoker lines
- Marionette lines
- Thin or deflated lips
- Vertical lip lines
- Chin wrinkles and augmentation
- Jowls
Can each product in the Restylane® family be used for different areas of the body?
Yes. Galderma, the maker of Restylane, has developed a variety of injectable hyaluronic acid products for this specific objective. Each dermal filler in this brand is made to the exact consistency that is ideal for its target area. For example, Restylane Silk has a softer, smoother consistency that is most appropriate for enhancing the lips and reducing the appearance of fine lines around the mouth. During your consultation, your provider listens carefully to your concerns and desired outcome and selects the best filler accordingly.

“Dr. Quintana was very helpful. She took time to ask me my background history and she answered all my questions. Great bedside manners. Everyone in the office was great and very nice to me. I feel I was heard and they helped me understand the treatment and give me all the relevant details. I will definitely come back!” — Elena D.
“Beyond impressed with the experience I had with Dr Quintana. I had a consultation for my lips and she was able to explain everything to me from start to finish and what I can expect. I was so nervous about the treatment hurting but I felt absolutely no pain from the numbing ointment just like she told me. I had restylane silk for my lips and had 2 treatments that were 2 weeks apart. I was so happy that she did a little of the restylane and let me see how it looked and had me come back after 2 weeks to have the rest of the syringe. My results are beyond amazing – I never imagined it looking so natural but it really does! After my experience with my lips I ended up getting dysport as well during my 2nd appointment. I’m so happy with my results I can’t thank Dr Quintana enough!! I highly recommend her for any dermatology or cosmetic dermatology services!” — Michele C.
What Types of Restylane® Are Available?
At Laser & Mohs Dermatology of New York City, we offer the full line of Restylane products. These include:
What are the differences between Restylane® Silk, Lyft, and Refyne & Defyne?
All Restylane products are manufactured with hyaluronic acid. Each, however, is made for a specific use.
Silk
Restylane Silk is made with a soft, supple gel consistency that is ideal for the lips. This lip filler treatment can increase the volume and fullness of the lips and also eliminate the fine lines that form around the mouth. Thanks to small HA particles, Restylane Silk achieves natural looking results that don’t give away treatment even through a kiss.
Lyft
Restylane Lyft was developed specifically for the correction of more severe facial folds around the nose and mouth (nasolabial folds). This product is also great for nonsurgical cheek augmentation and hand rejuvenation. In fact, many patients choose to address both areas in the same appointment!
Refyne
Restylane Refyne is one of the first dermal fillers to be made with XpresHAn technology. This manufacturing process allows the filler to smooth lines and wrinkles while maintaining the fullness of all facial expressions. XpresHAn technology, allowing more natural movements of the face, makes Refyne an excellent treatment option for lines around the nose and mouth.
Defyne
Also made with XpresHAn technology, Restylane Defyne is very similar to Refyne. It is made to support natural facial movements and is commonly applied to areas of the lower face where movement is essential to speaking, laughing, and smiling.
Your dermal filler provider at our Midtown Manhattan office in NYC understands how each Restylane filler works. If you are interested in cheek augmentation, lip enhancement, hand rejuvenation, or just want to get ahead of the common signs of facial aging, we can devise a treatment plan that is ideal for you.
Restylane® Silk
Dr. Adelle Quintana uses Restylane Silk to add definition and symmetry to the lips. Restylane Silk contains hyaluronic acid particles that are much smaller than other fillers, which allows it to plump the lips without looking unnatural. This filler can address the cupid’s bow, side-side symmetry, fullness in the center, and projection. Learn more about how Restylane Silk can enhance your lips!
Restylane® Lyft
Restylane Lyft targets volume loss in the cheeks and mid-face. The gel particles in Restylane Lyft are larger than those in Restylane, allowing for a deeper injection into the skin. Results from Resylane Lyft are immediate and can last from 12-18 months. Restylane Lyft can also rejuvenate your hands.
Restylane® Refyne & Defyne
Restylane Refyne & Defyne are the newest additions to the Restylane family of fillers. Restylane Refyne is specifically formulated to correct mild to moderate smile lines and nasolabial folds. Defyne has larger particles that can improve more severe lines and wrinkles on the face. Both Restylane Refyne & Defyne both have results that can last one year. If you unhappy with the appearance of your wrinkles, Refyne or Defyne may be right for you!

Do Restylane® Injections Hurt?
How Many Restylane® Treatments Will I Need?
When Will I See Results After My Restylane® Injections?
Since this Restylane injectable is specifically formulated to act like your body’s hyaluronic acid, it works immediately, adding volume for a more youthful appearance.
Does each Restylane® product require different recovery?
Dermal fillers provide immediate aesthetic benefits with minimal downtime. Regardless of which Restylane product a patient chooses, they may resume most of their normal activities right away. Side effects are similar across the range of Restylane fillers. These include mild to moderate redness and swelling at injection points. Some patients, especially those who take blood-thinning medication, aspirin, or NSAIDs, have a higher risk of bruising after dermal filler injections. Generally, patients go right back to their normal activities after their appointment.
Does Restylane® Silk, Lyft, and Refyne & Defyne provide different results?
Yes and no. The various Restylane products all achieve the general benefit of facial rejuvenation. However, because each product is uniquely made with a particular particle size of hyaluronic acid, the results that are achieved vary based on the target area. For example, Restylane Refyne can smooth the lines that form around the nose and mouth, whereas Restylane Lyft achieves results in the midface by enhancing the contours of the cheeks. Our providers are very familiar with each Restylane product and understand their benefits and limitations, so recommend products that are best suited to each patient’s desired outcome.
Can I combine Restylane® with other procedures? Such as a Lip or Cheek Augmentation?
Restylane plays well with others. Patients interested in more comprehensive rejuvenation may combine multiple Restylane products, such as Silk for the lips and Lyft for the cheeks. Restylane products can also be combined with Botox, microneedling, and other methods of facial rejuvenation. Even people who undergo plastic surgery such as a facelift can benefit from Restylane treatment performed by a board-certified, experienced physician.
